Volk, Normadine M. (Nicolaus) (August 18, 1927 - December 27, 2009)

 
Normadine M. Volk, 82, died Sunday December 27, 2009 at her residence in Withee under the care of her children, special care providers and Ministry Home Care Hospice. 
 

Normadine was born August 18, 1927, in Waverly, IA, the daughter of Chris and Carrie (Seiling) Nicolaus.  
 

After graduation from Waverly High School, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska and enrolled in Creighton University where she earned her nursing degree.  Normadine was employed a the Community Hospital in Waverly, assigned to the operating rooms.   
 

On August 24, 1949, she married John R. Volk. He passed away on June 8, 1981.  
 

Normadine moved to Wisconsin and worked at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley as a nurse in the maternity ward and then worked as a nurse at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. Normadine was a board member at Victory Memorial Hospital.  
 

She was an avid reader and loved collecting antiques. Normandine enjoyed college football and the Green Bay Packers.   
 

She is survived by her children, John Volk of Owen, Beth (George) Hamm of Owen, Jane (Victor) Schiszik of Medford, Linda Schiszik of Spencer, Thomas (Shari) Volk of Withee, Daniel Volk of Owen and Julie (Paul Jr.) Stumpner of Owen; sister Bernice Anderson of Waverly, IA; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.   
 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on great grandson Jacob; two brothers, Nick and John and one sister Jeanette. 

 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. The Rev. Gerard Willger will preside. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon.  
 

Acting as her pallbearers will be Michael, Ryan and Kristian Schiszik, Adam and Alex Stumpner, Matthew, Jacob and Jared Volk and Wade Dobrzynski.

 
The family will be choosing a memorial in Normadine’s name at a later date.
