Merwin, Frances Lucille (Ruesch) (January 20, 1914 - February 3, 2010)

 
Frances Lucille Merwin, 96, of Abbotsford, formerly of Medford, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the House of The Dove in Marshfield.

 
Frances was born January 20, 1914 in Hamilton, Montana, the daughter of Ernest and Gena (Johnson) Ruesch.  
 

Her family moved to the Medford area where she graduated from Medford Public Schools and continued with two additional years of schooling through Taylor Co. Normal School.  
 

Frances married Harold F. Merwin on December 28, 1943. Frances was a dedicated wife and mother and at the age of 55 became a librarian for the Marshfield Public Library and later worked as an assistant librarian for the Colby-Unity School System.    

 
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Abbotsford and the Star Circle of the First Presbyterian Church, a former member of both the Shewahmegon Bird Club and a local homemaker’s club. Frances enjoyed reading about history and loved artwork and traveling. She always enjoyed gathering her family together and cooking her delicious meals for them.

 
Frances is survived by her children, Richard Merwin of Franklin, Lowell (Diane) Merwin of Marshfield, John Merwin of Chicago, and Patti (Donn) Gordon of Neshanic Station, NJ; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.  
 

She is further survived by one sister, Marion Merwin of West Bend; and one brother, Lloyd Ruesch of Oregon; and one sister-in-law Margaret Ruesch of Council Bluff, Iowa along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother Warren. 

 
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. The Rev. Marcia Thomas will preside. Burial will follow in Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and on Saturday at the church in Abbotsford from 10 a.m. until time of service.

 
If desired, the family is accepting memorials in Frances’s name to either the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford or the House of The Dove in Marshfield.
