Gaffney, Patrick Thomas (27 April 1947 -
31 January 2010) With Flag
Patrick Thomas Gaffney, 62, died Sunday,
Jan. 31, 2010, at his residence in Owen.
Patrick was born April 27, 1947, the son
of Judge Richard F. and Alice (McKee) Gaffney. He was a
graduate of the Owen-Withee High School. Patrick entered the
Army in 1966 and attained the rank of Specialist Four while serving
in the Viet Nam War. After his honorable discharge in 1969, Patrick
resided in Neillsville for a short time where he married Linda
Reinart in 1971. Patrick was employed at Greenwood Homes,
later moving to Willard and then moving to Rock Dam where Patrick
and Linda owned and operated the Lake Side Bar. Patrick and
Linda divorced in 1986, and he began working at Wisconsin Homes,
then later at Figi’s, both located in Marshfield.
Patrick was an avid trout fisherman and
enjoyed camping.
He is survived by his son Bartholomew
(Michelle) Gaffney of Owen; his step daughter Betty Ann (Sam)
Sudduth of Auburndale; his grandchildren, Bartholomew Jr.,
Alexandra, Timothy, Joshua and Amanda; three sisters, Janet (Dave)
Thomas of Edgerton, Colleen Johnson of Neillsville and Kathy
Gaffney of Edina, MN; and two brothers, Richard Gaffney of
Neillsville and Timothy Gaffney of Roberts. Pat is further
survived by 11 nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and
nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents;
two sisters, Susan Johnson and Toni Gaffney and one niece, Peggy
Sue Thomas.
Patrick’s funeral service was held
at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral
Home in Owen with visitation from noon until time of service.
Burial with full military honors followed in Riverside Cemetery in
the Town of Hixon.
Pallbearers were: Sam Sudduth, Joshua
Reinart, Denny Hanke and James Reetz.
