Poole, Charles (Manhunt - 1957)
Charles Poole, 80, of Neillsville,
wasn’t lost when about 35 national guardsmen and officials
staged a hunt for him in the marsh area 13 miles southwest of
Neillsville Monday night.
He was just "sitting it out" waiting for
daylight, refusing to be panicked by his situation.
That takes nothing from Capt. Delbert C. Struble, his national guardsmen, Sheriff Ray Kutsche, Undersheriff Frank Dobes and others who organized and participated in the man-hunt. They found their man six miles south west of the junction of Highway 10 and County Trunk B, and about a mile from the road. (Balance of the story is missing).
