Zittleman, Dewey "Duke" (? - 26 August 1957) 
 

Dewey "Duke" Zittleman, 59, of Colfax, a former resident of Neillsville, died August 26, in Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.  He had a heart ailment and had been in ill heath for a number of years.  
 

Funeral services were held August 29, in the Methodist Church in Colfax, with services conducted by the Rev. H. Folkstad, pastor.  Burial was made there. 
 

Mr. Zittleman spent his early life in Menomonie.  He came to Neillsville to work in the condensery and later became a state milk inspector for this area.  The family lived on the Evans farm at Ross’s Eddy, and later in Neillsville. 
 

They moved to Spring Valley, where he was a state dairy inspector. After retiring from this work, the Zittlemans moved to Colfax, where they purchased a variety store and root beer stand, which Mrs. Zittleman now operates. 
 

Besides his wife, the former Ruby Evans of Neillsville, he is survived by two sons, Donald, who teaches in a school near Detroit, Mich., and Kenneth who is attending Wisconsin State College at La Crosse.  There is one grandchild, Bobby, 15 months old. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters. 
 

Mr. Zittleman served in World War I and was a member of the American Legion at Colfax.  He was a member of the Methodist Church.  Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wittke of Neillsville attended the funeral.
