Smith, Angeline #5 (19 DEC 1903 - 13 JAN 1955)
Mrs. Albert (Angeline) Smith, age 51, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been admitted the evening before. She had been in poor health for over 2 ½ years. Mrs. Smith, the former Angeline Burtard was born Dec. 19, 1903, at Colby. She grew to womanhood in the town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.). She was a graduate of Colby High School and rural course of Stevens Point Normal and taught school in Hoard before her marriage on June 30, 1926, to Albert Smith. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society, and lived in the Village of Curtiss since her marriage.
Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday evening, Jan. 15. The Rev. M. S. Egge officiated and burial was made at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Arlyn (Loretta) Harris, Delores Smith of Milwaukee, and Barbara at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Joe Ackerman, Owen, Mrs. Walter (Elenora) Nicks, Dorchester, three brothers, John Burtard, Owen, Gilbert Burtard, Curtiss, and Rueben Burtard, Gilman and two grandchildren.
At the rites Mrs. Alfred Thompson and Mrs. DuWayne Bulgrin, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Nelson, sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Lights of Home."
In charge of the floral tributes were her nieces, Carol Burtard, Dora Ackerman, Mesdames Ambrose Schuh, Joe Karaba, Orlando Ackerman, Barney Roytek, Fritz Laabs, and Harry Laabs.
Pallbearers were Orville Laabs, Bernard Laabs, John Lokken, John Michlig, Milton Meske and Franklin Kraut.
Among out of town people attending were: Ed Smith, Rosendale, Mrs. Ida Kohis, Ripon; Mrs. Albert Balthazer, Mrs. Ingham Gilbertson, Fond du Lac, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kolbeck, Mrs. Della Netto, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Karaba, Milwaukee; Ed and Louis Stollfus of Eldorado, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gruenke, Mrs. August Gruenke, Dora Ackerman, Chicago.
