Raasch, William H. (December 20, 1935 - February 2, 2010)
William H. "Bill" Raasch, 74 of Dorchester, died Tuesday,
February 2, 2010 in the Critical Care Unit at St. Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield.
Bill was born December 20, 1935 in the town of Deer Creek in Taylor
County, the son of Reinhard and Esther (Ellingson) Raasch.
He attended Green Acre Country School in Deer Creek. After his schooling Bill worked various jobs including milk hauling and cheese making at Farmers Pride Cheese Factory in Deer Creek.
On October 13, 1956 Bill married the
former Joyce Messmann in Stetsonville.
Bill remained active with farming and cheese making and also managed the Center Co-Op in Merrill for a period of time. William also worked at Hall’s Monument in Medford.
Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. His
hobbies included fishing, gardening and sightseeing. Bill was a
lover of fine polka music.
William is survived by his wife of 53 years Joyce Raasch of
Dorchester; his children, Ronald (Kristen) Raasch of Medford, Tammy
(Jeff) Lange of Medford, Michelle Raasch of Dorchester, Brian
(Tina) Raasch of Colby, Kari (Gary) Lyon of Abbotsford, Dean (Tina)
Raasch of Granton, Dana (Kevin) Fechhelm of Abbotsford, and Ann
(Matt) Hoffman of Greenwood; 22 grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Bill is further survived by four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Howard Grunwald of Medford along with many other relatives and good friends.
William was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Kathy
Susan in infancy; three brothers, Elvin, Sonny and Melvin Raasch;
and one sister Carol Grunwald.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010
at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. The Rev. James Babler will
preside. Burial will take place at a later date privately.
Friends may call on Saturday at the church in Stetsonville from
9:30 a.m. until time of services. Acting as his pallbearers will be
Skylar, Cody and Brandan Raasch, Jordan Lange and Tyler
Fechhelm.
