I.O.O.F. and Rebekahs (1957)

The fall district meeting of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs was held in Neillsville Monday.

The afternoon meeting of Rebekahs was presided over by the district president, Mrs. Winnifred Duebbert of Whitehall.  The state assembly president, Mrs. Clara Garthwait of Bloomington, was guest speaker in the afternoon.  Mrs. Irene Park of Centuria, assembly warden, was a surprise guest in the afternoon and went on to Withee for an evening meeting.  Other honored guests included: Mrs. Emma Dickinson, past president, of Augusta; Mrs. Georgia Bartlett, district deputy, of Augusta and Mrs. Vivian Tande, district secretary of Alma Center.

The evening meeting was presided over by Mrs. Alice Benedict, Noble Grand of Neillsville.  Work was put on by the Neillsville Lodge, Mrs. Ruth Keller was pianist.

Presiding at the afternoon Odd Fellows meeting was Elmer Keller, district president. Grand Herald of the Grand Lodge, Milton Dickinson of Augusta, made an address.  His father, Virgil Dickinson of Augusta, a Past Grand Master of Wisconsin attended.

At the evening joint meeting, Gavin Upton, Neillsville high school band director, appeared with musical numbers, consisting of a song by the high school girl’s quartet, and several numbers by Mr. Upton and his "Bermuda Boys."  The latter group is made up of a high school girl accompanist, four high school boys and Mr. Upton.  It is the same group who recently won the amateur hour contest at the fair.

The 5:30 banquet was served in the Methodist Church by a committee of church ladies. The spring meeting will be held in April in Alma Center.
