Stepan, Anna M. (22 SEP 1882 - 20 JAN 1955)

Mrs. Joseph Stepan Sr., mother of Mrs. Frank Zalabsky, city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), succumbed to a long lingering illness complicated by a heart condition on Thursday, Jan. 20^th, 1955.  Death came to her at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Antonia Lashua at Wausau.  She was 73 years of age.

Funeral services were conducted at two o’clock Sunday afternoon from her farm home near Mosinee with the Rev. E. T. Deselms of Mosinee and Rudolph Muska of Cadott officiating.  Burial was made in the Mosinee Cemetery.

Pallbearers were J. Pecha, W. Kraig, L. Cihlas, J. Vesely Sr., F. Bablunka and F. Smerida.  Vocal selections were rendered by Mrs. A. Kyhos, Mrs. L. Cihlar, Mrs. M. Vetter and Mrs. A. Dukanik, all close friends of the deceased.

Anna Marie Stepan, ne Riha, was born on Sept. 22, 1882, in Czechoslovakia.  At the age of 16 years she came to America and on Aug. 12, 1905, was united in marriage to Joseph Stepan, Sr., in a ceremony performed in Chicago, Ill.  Three years later the couple left Chicago, moving to their present day farm near Mosinee, where she had lived happily for the past 47 years.

Mourn her departure from these earthly surroundings are her husband, a brother, Charles Riha of Chicago, Ill; four sons, Charles and Jerry of Mosinee, Adolph of Chicago and Joseph, Jr., whose present day address is unknown; three daughters, Antonia Lashua, Wausau, Mr. Charles Ingram, Westmont, Ill., and Mrs. Frank Zalabsky of Owen; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  One son, Anton, preceded her in death, passing away in 1920.
