Glasow, Fred Henry William (23 September
1873 - October 31, 1957)
Fredrick Henry William Glasow, 84, a
former resident of the Town of Weston, died October 23, in Owen.
Funeral services were held Friday
afternoon from the Zion Lutheran Church, Stetsonville. The Rev.
William Holzhausen officiated. Burial was made in the
Stetsonville Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Glasow was born September 23, 1873,
in Germany to Frederick and Fredericka (Luebs) Glasow. He
came to the United States with his parents in 1883 (aboard
the Silesia) and lived in New
York State for a short time before going to Neillsville. The
family resided in Neillsville until 1889 then moved to a farm in
the Town of Weston.
As a young man he worked as an apprentice
cooper for the late John Hein. In 1904, he purchased his
father’s farm and continued this occupation until 1951, when
he and his wife moved to Route 1, Dorchester, to make their home
with their daughter, Mrs. Fritsche. Mr. Glasow also hauled
cream for the Clark County Butter Company for eight years, was an
insurance agent from 1920 to 1950, and was assessor for the Town of
Weston for many years.
He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church (the rest of the obit was not found in the paper).
