Donna Melvin, 55, of Neillsville died
Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010,a t her home surrounded by her loving
family.
Donna Mae Melvin was born Aug. 7, 1954,
in Winona, MN, the daughter of Thomas and Geraldine (Bergerson)
Brekke. As a young child, Donna’s family moved to Eau
Claire, where she was raised. She graduated from Memorial High
School in 1972. After high school she worked at the
courthouse in Eau Claire County. She met Michael Richard
Melvin Feb. 17, 1973 and they were united in marriage Sept. 8,
1973, in Eau Claire. Later they moved to Neillsville.
Donna worked for about a year and a half at the Nelson Muffler
Factory. Then she took some time off from working outside the home
to care for her children. In the mid-90’s she stated working
for Gunderson Home Health Care out of La Crosse. She worked
there until her health forced her to retire. In her spare
time, Donna enjoyed baking and cake decorating.
She is survived by her husband, Michael;
four sons, Shannon (Amy) Melvin and their children, Noble and
Rowan, Kevin (Kara) Melvin and their children, Hannah, Ava and
Brady, Jason (Jodi) Melvin and their child, Madison, Cory (Jessica)
Melvin and their children, Skyler and Payton, all of Neillsville;
daughter, Stacy (Cam) Melbinger and their child, Riley, of
Marshfield; two sisters, Lois (Don) Schnabel and their child, Heidi
(Troy) Grimm and son, Bryce, of Marshfield, and Sally Stillman and
her children, Steven, Shane, Samuel, and Scott, of Eau Claire; two
brothers, Jim (Donna) Brekke and their children, James and
Torbjorn, of Eau Claire and Paul (Pam) Brekke of Withee.
She was preceded in death by her
parents.
A memorial service for Donna was held at
11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Zion American Lutheran Church in
Granton. Pastor Keith Lueneburg officiated. Music was
provided by Jim Brekke, soloist.
