Paul, Robert (8 OCT 1877 - 24 MAR 1955)

At two o’clock Monday afternoon funeral services were conducted for Robert Paul, 77, from St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee.  The Rev. H. F. Brauer officiated.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Previous to the church services a brief service was held at his home in the city of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) at 1:30 for the benefit of his widow, an invalid.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Habighorst, Otto Bublitz, Frank Smith, Ed Midlebrandt, Charles Buchholtz and Elmer Voightlander.

Robert Paul was 77 years of age, being born on Oct. 8, 1877, at Schleswig, Wis.  He passed away on the 24th of March at Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley where he had been hospitalized for three days for treatment of a lingering disease.

On Dec. 23, 1902 he was united in marriage to Maria Brehmer in a ceremony performed at Potters, Wis.  The couple later moved to the Curtiss community where he successfully pursued the vocation of farming until his retirement about seven years ago, when they built a new home in Owen.  He had enjoyed his late years with his family and his daily visits downtown until less than a year ago when his health began to fail.

Surviving him are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Iverson (Lila) Edwards, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Lorraine of Chicago; five sons, Elmer, Merrill; Art and Wilmer of Curtiss; and Otto and Ray of Owen; one brothers, William of Hilbert, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. Amelia Lulloff of Velders, Wis.

One son, Norman, preceded him in death, passing away in 1945 in a prisoner camp in Japan.
