Funeral services were held Friday
afternoon from the St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed
Church, Humbird, for Martha Terrell, 85, who died January 6.
Rev. Carl Serr officiated. Burial was made in the
Houghtonburg Cemetery.
Mrs. Martha Terrell, daughter of Herman
and Caroline Zimmerman, was born October 27, 1892 (should be 1872),
at Watertown. When a small girl she moved with her parents to Pine
Valley, near Neillsville.
The family moved onto a farm in the Town
of Garden Valley, Jackson County, and on June 3, 1894, she was
married in Merrillan to Floyd Terrell. They made their home
on a farm north of Humbird. Their home was blessed with six
children. Her husband preceded her in death on May 6,
1930.
She is survived by three sons and three
daughters: Bert, Lee, and Hugh, at Humbird; Mrs. Oswald Micheal and
Mrs.. Edwin Harris of Humbird; and Mrs. Paul Braford of Eau Claire.
A brother, Reinhart Zimmerman, of Black River Falls, nine
grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren also
survive.
Mrs. William Theiler, Jr., and Mrs. Karl
Johnson gave the song service, accompanied by Mrs. William Theiler,
Sr., at the organ. They sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In
The Garden." The pallbearers were neighbors: William Theiler,
Sr., Max Schenk, Fred Trachsel, Joe Mayer, William Aebersold and
Tony Mayer.
Thos from away attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Braford and Mrs. Verne Anderson of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart Zimmerman and daughter, Dorothy, Black River Falls; Mrs. Hulda Wagner, Bob Wagner, Mrs. Everett Raine, Walter Pollnow, and Mrs. Helen Haugen, Neillsville; Carl Zimmerman, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fisher, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Manthe, Tomah; Don Terrell, Minneapolis, Minn.; Reinhart Gower, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Geise, Mrs. Fay Duxbury and Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Fees, Sr., Alma Center.
