Harvey, Wells F. (1958)
Wells F. Harvey, former Editor of The
Clark County Press, and Mrs. Harvey last Friday morning severed an
association of two decades with Clark County.
With their automobile piled full to
overflowing, they headed for Florida, intending to remain there
through the rest of the winter. Their plans beyond that are
indefinite, but include travel within the United States.
As his last official act, Mr. Harvey was
personally responsible for the most recent New Year edition of The
Clark County Press, which was a prodigious effort and a valuable
summary of 1957 in Clark County. He gathered the material and
wrote most of the news and editorial content of that edition.
He wrote and sold the advertising which sparkled on its pages, and
he took the pictures which added much to the color and
interest.
The Harveys have stored most of their
furniture in their home at Hewett and West Fourth Street, which has
been purchased by their son, Robert Harvey, present editor of The
Press, and his family. They moved in last Friday, starting just as
the older folks loaded their last load and took off on the highways
to the south.
To mark the weekend more completely as a
"moving days" for The Press, Milton J. Tock, shop foreman of The
Press, and his family moved into the Robert Harvey home at 205 Oak
Street, which they have purchased.
So if the newspaper doesn’t sparkle with its customary luster this week, it’s because everybody’s so sore and stiff we don’t feel like sparkling.
