Granton, Wisconsin consolidations (1958)
The Clark County School Board acted
Monday night on two consolidation petitions affecting the Granton
High School District.
Following a public hearing in the
Washburn Town hall, it rejected a petition to attach Jt. Dist. No.
1, towns of Levis, Washburn, and Sherwood to the Granton district;
and acted favorably on a petition to place the Cunningham School
district in the Granton High School district, July 1. A
public hearing on that petition was held January 23. The vote
on the latter was four to two.
The Cunningham district has an equalized
valuation of $249,300 and an enrollment of 13. Mrs. Alyce
Qualley is the teacher.
The petition concerning Jt. Dist. No. 1
was unanimously rejected, according to Leonard Morley, county
school superintendent and secretary of the committee, because the
attitude of the majority attending the public hearing appeared to
oppose the petition.
The county school committee also conducted its reorganization that night. George Wagner was elected chairman and Emil Kostner of Thorp was named vice chairman.
