Petke, Edward (6 JUN 1875 - 26 APR 1955)

 

Friends and relatives of Edward Petke may call at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home tomorrow and tomorrow night where his body is lying in state.  Funeral services will be conducted from St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 30, with Rev. Brower of Greenwood officiating.  Burial will be made at Riverside Cemetery.  His six sons will serve as pallbearers.

 

Mr. Petke was 79 years, 10 months and 20 days of age when he passed away after a long illness at his home north of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) Tuesday afternoon, April 26th, 1955.

 

Edward Petke was born on June 6, 1875 in Germany.  On Jan. 21, 1905, he was united in marriage to Emile Netzel in a ceremony performed in Chicago.  For the past 40 years he has lived in Hixon Township where he successfully farmed, raised a family of 10 children, contributed generously of his time and abilities to civic function and was a devoted member of the congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, six sons, Fred, Chicago, Ill.; Otto, Watertown; Walter, Arthur, Ted and Ray of Withee; four daughters, Mrs. Oscar (Tillie) Knoppel, Lake Forest, Ill.; Mrs. Julius (Gertrude) Rohland, Withee; Mrs. Art (Ruth) Jankee, Owen; and Mrs. Harold (Elsie) Gosse, Lake Forest, Ill.  One daughter, Dorothy, passed away when she was three years of age.
