Wallace, Irene (23 November 1886 - 13
March 1958)
Mrs. Henry (Irene) Wallace, 71, Rt. 2,
Granton, died March 13, in Neillsville after suffering a stroke
several hours before.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday
afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home. A reader of the
Christian Science Church officiated. Burial was made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wallace, the former Irene
Hohenstein, was born November 23, 1886 in Utica, Ill., daughter of
the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Withoff) Hohenstein. She
came as a young child with her parents to Clark County. The family
located on a farm near Cannonville, and she received her education
in the Cannonville School.
Her marriage to Henry Wallace took place
December 15, 1904, in Neillsville. They resided in the city
for 27 years and 10 years ago returned to their farm in the Town of
Washburn.
She is survived by her husband and four children: Kenneth, Neillsville; Theodore, Milwaukee; Mrs. Wilbert (Ann) Wischulke, Granton; and Doris, at home. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. C. M. (Anna) Franklin, Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Peter Hohenstein, Alma Center, and Fred Hohenstein, Rockport, Tex.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
