Shirley, Margo Rosalie (Marriage - 8 March 1958)

Miss Margo Rosalie Shirley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Shirley, and Frederick Raymond Elmhorst, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Elmhorst, Sr., of Granton, were united in marriage at the Methodist Church at Humbird Saturday, March 8.  The 2 o’clock ceremony was performed by Rev. Donald Frank.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of white slipper satin styled in empire lines with a chapel length train, white lace bodice and long tapered sleeves.  The bodice neck was outlined in dainty flue chiffon with chiffon bow down the back.  Her fingertip veil of illusion ws held in place y a coronet crown trimmed with rhinestones.  She carried a large white calla lily and white hyacinths with white ribbon streamers.

The maid of honor was her sister, Miss Sue Shirley.  Bridesmaids were Katherine Elmhorst and Geraldine Elmhorst, who wore pastel colors and carried yellow daffodils. Little Kitty Shirley, in a white dress, was flower girl.

Everett Roehl was best man and other attendants were Don Scharf and Dick Elmhorst.

The mother of the bride wore a grey suit, and the groom’s mother chose a navy blue print. Their corsages were of white carnations.

A reception for about 75 relatives and close friends was held in the church parlors following the ceremony.

Friends of the bride, Yvonne Aeschbacker, Margaret Aeschbacker, Shirley Morgan and Margaret Martin, were the waitresses; and Mrs. Henry Laffe, Mrs. Jerome Dignin and Mrs. Dale Armitage served.  The wedding cake was made by the groom’s sister.

Following a short wedding trip in northern Wisconsin the newly-weds will reside in Loyal, where they have furnished an apartment.  The bride is a graduate of Lincoln High School at Alma Center; the groom is a graduate of Loyal High School and is engaged in the pulpwood business with his father.

A pre-nuptial shower was given in the Granton village hall by Mrs. Katherine Elmhorst and Geraldine Elmhorst.  Many gifts were received.

Out of town guests were: Miss Sue Shirley of Deerfield, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Elmhorst, Sr., the attendants of both bride and groom, and many relatives and family friends from the Granton area.
