Cain, Walter L. (24 June 1863 - 18 March
1958)
Walter L. Cain, 94, died in a hospital in
Chippewa Falls, March 18, of old age complications.
One of 16 children, he was born in
Sheboygan County June 24, 1863. He was married to Amanda
Johnson in 1910. She died in 1918. He owned a timber
tract in the Town of Beaver and farmed near Marshfield for four
years. He also lived in California and Canada.
He is survived by a son, Ulysses Cain of
Loyal; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Karnopp of Thorp; a step-daughter
Mrs. Chester Hebert of Unity; a step-son, Carl Johnson of
Davenport, Ia.; four sisters; a brother; nine grandchildren, and 14
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Myre Funeral Home Friday afternoon, with the Rev. Wendell Bennetts officiating. Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.

Walter L. Cain Services Are Conducted Friday (1863-1958)
Walter L. Cain, 94, died in Chippewa Falls Tuesday morning March 18, of old age complications.
Mr. Cain, one of 16 children, was born June 24, 1863 In Sheboygan County. He was married to Amanda Johnson in 1910. She died in 1918.
He owned a tract of timber in the town of Sherman and farmed for four years near Marshfield. He also lived in California and Canada.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Myre Funeral Home. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Wendell Bennetts, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.
Pallbearers were Adolph Gretzner, Art Anderson, Ben Clouse, John Stowe, Roy Hebert, and William Essex.
Miss Nelda Foelske sang "In The Garden" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Byron Zepplin was organist.
Mr. Cain is survived by a son, Ulysses of Loyal; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Phoebe) Karnopp, Thorp; two step-children, Mrs. Chester Hebert, Unity and Carl Johnson of Davenport, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Lottie Ford, Mrs. Mabel Grooms, and Mrs. Alphus Kieffer, all of California, and Mrs. Inez Kappleman of Sheboygan Falls; one brother, Ulysses Cain of Sheboygan Falls; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Karnopp and children, Thorp; Mrs. Wesley Johnson, Mrs. Hugh Johnson, and Mrs. Leonard Schmidt, Winter; Mr. and Mrs. John Lea Vessuer, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Guenther, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Neuman and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hebert, Spencer; and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Langfeldt, Wausau.
