----Source: Thorp Courier (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) 06 Dec 2023
On November 11, 2023 the Clark County Leaders Federation held their annual 4-H
Banquet. During the banquet countrywide youth and adults/business were nominated
and awarded for going above and beyond for the Clark County 4-H program. This
year the Thorp Courier was nominated as the 2023 “Friend of 4-H for Clark
County.
A speech and plaque were presented at the banquet, and the speech was presented
by Sheri Jacque, who wrote:
“On the national level. the Thorp Courier has always provided information on the
importance of 4-H, local club information and how to join, during National 4-H
Week. On the county level, the Thorp Courier has included articles about the
countrywide Drama Fest and other events going on within Clark County. The Thorp
Courier has been phenomenal in supporting the youth by highlighting their
accomplishments during the Clark County fair projects.
And lastly, the Thorp Courier has been supportive of 4-H at the local level by
printing articles and photos of the local 4-H clubs involvement in the community
during the Highway Clean Up, the Cow Wash, Holiday Craft making for the elderly,
and so many more activities.
It is because of the Thorp Courier and their involvement and support of 4-H that
Thorp is no stranger to the organization and the local clubs. It is because of
their support of 4-H that I feel the Thorp Courier deserved the “Friend of 4-H
Award.”
