Johnson, Mary Ellen (10 November 1933 - 1 March 2010) 
 

Mary Ellen Johnson, 76, of Neillsville died Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville. 
 

Mary Ellen Holt was born Nov. 10, 1933, in Neillsville, the daughter of Albert William and Fern Mabel (Olson) Holt.  She graduated from Neillsville High School and then worked at the County Nurse’s office.  She was united in marriage March 29, 1952, to Gerald "Jerry" Johnson in Neillsville.   Mary Ellen then stopped working to raise their two children.  Later, she went to work at the Condensery in Neillsville and from there to the Neillsville Clinic for nine years until health problems forced her to retire in 1979.  After retirement, she assisted her husband at Russell Memorial Park Campground for 14 years. 
 

She was a member of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Prayer Chain and the "Care and Share" program at the church.  She was also a member of the Good Homemakers club. 
 

She is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry" Johnson; children, Steven (Donna) Johnson of Neillsville and Leeann (LeRoy) Krall of West Salem; three grandchildren, Ryan (Fiancée April Stueck) Krall of Eau Claire, Nate (girlfriend Jenna Berg) Krall of Marshfield and Christie (James) Gassen of Scott Air Force Base, IL; and one great-grandchild, Mathias Gassen.  She is also survived by one brother, Bill Holt of Sarona; three sisters, Shirley (Robert) Zager of St. Cloud, MIN, Nancy (Edward) Tresemer of Neillsville and Kay (Bill) Kent of Winona, MN; a brother-in-law, Louis Henchen of Neillsville; and many nieces and nephews. 
 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Barbara Henchen.  
 

Funeral services for Mary Ellen will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville.  Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate.  Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ. 
 

Casketbearers will be family and friends.
