Grasse, Anna Pauline (18 July 1879 - 14 June 1958)

Mrs. Anna Grasse, 78, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Edward Hawkins, on Rt. 1 Neillsville, died June 1, following a lingering illness.

Mrs. Grasse, the former Anna Pauline Wagner, was born July 18, 1879, in Sheboygan County, the daughter of the late Michael and Theresa (Oswald) Wagner.  She attended rural school there and on November 19, 1906, she was married to Barney Grasse in Sheboygan.

They operated the Grasse Milk Company for many years, and for several years Mrs. Grasse served as an officer of the Grasse-Trimberger Loan Co.

About 11 years ago she came to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hawkins of Neillsville and Mrs. Elmer Baumgartner of Altoona.  She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Altoona.

She is survived by the two daughters, three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Gaubatz, Chilton; and a brother, Emil Wagner, Cleveland, Ohio.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Sheboygan. The Rev. Walter Laesch officiated.  Burial was made in the Wildwood Cemetery there.  The body was taken from the Bergemann Funeral Home to Sheboygan late Saturday.
