Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood, was the scene of a lovely candlelight ceremony at eight o’clock July 9th, 1955 when Emma Louis Scherf became the bride of Dunbar W. Heins. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Egge of Greenwood.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Scherf, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), while her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elgart Hens of Eau Claire.
Approaching the altar on the arm of her father who gave her in marriage, the bride wore a ballerina length gown of nylon brocade in white and silver with a shoulder length veil fastened to a crown of pink rose buds. She carried a hand bouquet of pink roses and stephanotis. Her sister, Natalie Ann Scherf, served as bridesmaid, wearing a gown of ice blue and styled similar to that of the bride. She carried a hand bouquet of pink asters and baby breath. The bridegroom was attended by John Saxton, with both wearing white coats, navy blue trousers and black bow ties.
Frank and Thomas Scherf, twin brothers of the bride, served as ushers.
During the ceremony Marlene Krueger of Birnamwood played the organ, while vocal selection were sung by Judy Paulson of Neillsville. Both of the young ladies were classmates of the bride while at college.
The bride’s mother witnessed the ceremony wearing a grey blue summer suit with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses, while the bridegroom’s mother wore a white and black dotted Swiss gown with black accessories and a shoulder corsage of pink roses.
A reception followed in the parish hall which was appropriately decorated with baskets of asters and gladiola and other garden flowers.
