Michael, Lena (5 May 1882 –7
September 1958)
Double funeral services were conducted
last Thursday afternoon for the late Mr. and Mrs. John Michael of
Humbird, who died as the result of a fire in their home September
7. The Rev. Carl Serr officiated, and burial was made in the
Town of Mentor Cemetery.
Mrs. Lena Michael, nee Messerli, 76, was
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Messerli and was born May 5,
1882, in Interlaken, Switzerland. In that country she was
married to Gottfried Urfer. Following his death, she came to
America, and on February 18, 1919, she was married to John Michael.
She had made Humbird her home since that time.
Five children survive: Oswald of Humbird; George of Denver, Colo.; John of Bremen, Ind.; Mrs. Gladys Anderson of Eau Claire and Mrs. Alice Ernston, Minneapolis. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Repplinger, Moose Lake, Minn.; and two brothers-in-law, Herman of Nauvoo, Ill. and Louis Michael of Kansas City, Mo., also survive, as do five grandchildren.
