Andrew, Ralph A. (August 7, 1921 -
February 26, 2010)
Ralph A. Andrew, 88, Colby died Friday,
February 26, 2010 at the Medford Memorial Nursing Home under the
care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
Ralph was born August 7, 1921, in Hixton,
the son of Leo and Cunigunda (Seubert) Andrews.
His family moved to the Colby area where
Ralph attended Sand Hill School and later took various hop classes
at the Marathon Co. Vocational School.
He married the former Rose Wucherpfenig
on June 23, 1945, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Colby.
Ralph was a semi-truck driver starting in
1943 for the Hermanson Cheese Company in Spencer, later hauling
livestock for Les Bowen in Curtiss, and later driving for the
Streckert Manufacturing in Abbotsford. After that Ralph drove semi
for PCA in Colby until his retirement. Ralph and Rose also owned
and operated a dairy farm in the town of Hull.
Ralph was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member for the Catholic Order of Foresters and a former board member for the Box Board employee’s Credit Union in Colby.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, March 2 at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Burial followed in St.
Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A Catholic Order of Foresters
Rosary Service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home
in Abbotsford. Ralph enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Rose, of
Colby, his children Carol (Jim) Quall of Mount Horeb; Dale (Donna)
Andrew of Stratford; Daniel (Ruth) Andrew of Fort Collins, CO;
James Andrew of Dorchester and John (Angela) Andrew of Unity; 9
grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great
great-granddaughters; 2 sisters, Helen Deml of Naples, FL, and
Evelyn Hemmy of Marshfield; and one brother, Lloyd (Donna) Andrew
of Casville.
Ralph is preceded in death by his
parents; a son Gerald and a daughter, Janice.
Serving as his pallbearers were Don and Mitch Melander, Mannon Gustafson, Tom Hemmy, Howie Frane, Allen Stange. His honorary pallbearers were Ronald Schmidt, Ed Brown, Ray Sobeck, Louie Young, William Martens, Jr., and Tom Froeba.
