Edward Stanley died Tuesday morning at the Eau Claire hospital as a result of an operation for a cancer. The remains were brought here Tuesday night for burial. Mr. Stanley was born n Ottawa City, Canada, April 7th, 1842, and when a small boy he removed to Chicago with his parents. His parents died in his early childhood and he was brought up by an aunt in Milwaukee. He was united in marriage to Miss Elvira Shoop at Loyal in 1878, and to this union two children were born, William and Dolly, both of whom survive their parents. Mr. Stanley served through the war as a member of the 1st Illinois Light Artillery. He has been a resident of this city for many years and has been a quiet, peaceful and law abiding citizen. The funeral will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 o’clock at the family residence on the north side.
