Davis, Jay G. (9 January 1882 - 29 September 1958) 
 

Jay. G. Davis, 76, Rt. 4, Marshfield, a former Town of York resident, died September 29 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Davis, Rt. 4. 
 

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. from the York Center Methodist Church. The Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the Neillsville Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was made in the York Cemetery. 
 

Mr. Davis was born January 9, 1882, in Fond du Lac; was educated there and married to Esther Huber of Marshfield in November, 1916.  Following their marriage they resided in Fond du Lac for a short time and then moved to Marshfield, where they resided until 1934.  At that time Mr. Davis went to work for a railroad in Minneapolis.  On his retirement they made their home with their children. 
 

He is survived by his wife and four children: Marvin Davis, Marshfield; the Rev. Lowell Davis, Duquesne, Pa.; the Rev. Robert Davis, Appleton; and Mrs. Robert Snyder, Superior; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Belle Mortimer of Neillsville; and a brother, Merton Davis, Waupaca. 
 

He was a member of the Methodist church in Neillsville, and the Railroad brotherhood.
