Opelt, Dorothy (Marriage - 25 October 1958)

The Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Neillsville was the scene Saturday of the wedding of Miss Dorothy Opelt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Opelt, and Frederick Gutenberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gutenberger, Rt. 3, Neillsville.  The Rev. Jack Grether performed the double ring ceremony at 2 p.m. before an altar banked with baskets of white lacey chrysanthemums.

For her wedding the bride wore a floor length gown of white embroidered nylon net over taffeta, with a very full bouffant skirt.  The fitted bodice was fashioned with long, tapered sleeves that came to a point at the wrists, and a Sabrina neckline.  Her fingertip veil cascaded from a pearl crown head piece edged in lace.  She carried a cross-shaped bridal bouquet of red sweetheart roses and white pompoms, entwined with green.

Maid of honor was Miss Caroline Buchholz, and bridesmaids were the Misses Martha Buchholz and Janice Hansen.  They were attired in red net dresses with matching headpieces, and carried bouquets of red carnations and white chrysanthemums.

Bestman was Robert Gutenberger, brother of the groom.  Groomsmen were Donald Richmond and William Opelt.  Dale Opelt and Gordon Opelt ushered.

Roy Schutte, nephew of the bride, in white coat and dark trousers, was ring bearer; and Diane Opelt, a niece, dressed as a miniature bride, was flower girl.

A dinner and reception for 300 guests was held at the American Legion Hall.

Both young people are graduates of Neillsville High School.  They will leave the later part of the week on a wedding trip to an undisclosed destination.

People from out of town here for the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mack and David, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Mack, Milwaukee; Mrs. Jennie Mack, Bill, Glen and Ralph Mack and girl friend, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Clausen all of Waupaca; Mr. and Mr. Arnold Ross, Holcombe; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Opelt, Woodstock, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Gutenberger and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gutenberger, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Scholze and children, Colby; Mr. And Mrs. Gordie Schuster, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bender and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leonhardt, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Wachendonk, Stevens Point; and Mr. and Mrs Oscar Christenson, Wausau.
