Halverson, Marjean (6 AUG 1955)

Holway Lutheran Church near Medford was the scene of the Saturday afternoon nuptials of Miss Marjean R. Halverson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Halverson, route 1, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), and Harvey E. Zubke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Zubke, route 2, Athens.  The Rev. Max Wilhelm officiated at the 2:30 o’clock ceremony.  Mrs. Norman Nelson accompanied Kenneth Scheffler and Marvin Ewan, cousins of the groom, when they sang, "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord is My Shephard."

The bridal gown was fashioned of lace and net over white satin.  The lace covered bodice was styled with a Peter Pan collar and sheer yoke which created a sweetheart neckline.  Lace flowers were appliquéd around the bottom of the net overskirt.  A scalloped headpiece held the fingertip veil of net illusion.  An extended cascade bouquet of red roses and stephanotis was tied with a wide white satin ribbon.

Miss Carol Halverson, a sister of the bride, the maid of honor, wore a yellow floor length gown of lace and net over taffeta.  Her bouquet was of yellow and white carnations, and she wore a matching yellow headpiece.  Mrs. Harry Elkhorn, and Mrs. Myron Scheffler, Wausau, the two bridesmaids, cousins of the bride and groom respectively, wore blue dresses styled like the maid of honor’s.  Their headpieces were blue and they carried blue and white carnations.

Lester Zubke, the groom’s brother, Athens, was best man.  Others in the bridal party were Harvey Halverson, Curtiss, a brother of the bride,a nd Myron Scheffler, Wausau, a cousin of the groom, the two groomsmen.

Places for 150 supper guests were laid in the church parlors, and a reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents.  In the evening a dance was held in the Memorial Hall in Dorchester.

The groom, who is engaged in farming, is a graduate of the Athens High School.  The bride, a graduate of the Medford High School, is employed at the Wis. Bottle Gas Co., in Medford.
