Stewart, Capt. James E. (30 May 1884 - November 1958) 
 

Arthur J. Haugen has received word of the death of Capt. James E. Stewart, the husband of his sister, Mrs. Elva Haugen Stewart.  Funeral services were held at Kingman, Mohave County, Ariz. November 5. 
 

Capt. Stewart was born May 30, 1884, and had been in the Military service since 1906.  He served in World War I and World War II.  He was closely associated with General H. H. "Hap" Arnold, was a member of the first flying class graduated at North Island, Calif., along with Gen. Arnold.  He was the last survivor of that class.  His father was a captain in the Civil War. 
 

He was married May 7, 1944, to Elva Haugen, the only sister of Arthur J. Hauge.  Elva, the youngest child in the Haugen family, was born on Clay Street at the present location of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Haugen.  When a child, her mother died, and her father having dies previously, she was taken to California and raised by a sister of her mother.
