Moen, John C. (11 March 1885 - 14
November 1958)
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday
afternoon for John C. Moen, 73, of Neillsville, who died Friday
following surgery. Services were held from the Calvary
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. I. J. Tanner officiating. Burial was
made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Moen, a resident of Neillsville for
the last 56 years, was born, March 11, 1885, in Norway, son of the
late Chris and Ronnog (Hagen) Moen. He came with his parents
to Minnesota at the age of eight. The family later moved to
Neillsville. Mr. Moen did carpenter work as a young man and
later went into business for himself. The past few years he did
general contracting work. He had been active in his work
until Monday, when he entered the hospital.
He was married March 24, 1908, to Bertha
May, in Neillsville.
He served for several years as alderman
of the city’s fourth ward.
Mr. Moen is survived by his wife; a
daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Ruth) Barr, on Okinawa; two sons, Herman and
Ray, both of Neillsville. Other survivors include a sister,
Mrs. Charles (Hilda) Johnson, Wheaton, Ill.; two brothers, George
Moen, Pampa, Tex., and Cornel Moen, address unknown. Four
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
