Smith, Augustus (Memorial -
1912)
Passed by Chas. G. Bacon Post G.A.R., in
memory of Comrad Augustus Smith, who died May 5th,
1912:
Once again death hath summoned a comrade
and the golden gateway to the Eternal City has opened to welcome
him to his home. He has completed his work here on earth, and
as his reward received the plaudit "well done" from the Grand
Commander. Therefore, be it resolved that in the death of
Comrad Augustus Smith our Post has lost a good and faithful member
and his wife and children a kind husband and father. We, his
comrades, extend to his family our sincere sympathy, trusting that
time will heal the wounds that death has inflicted.
Resolved further, that a copy of these
resolutions be transmitted to his family and that the same be given
to the press of the city and spread upon the records of our Post,
and that our Charter be draped for thirty days.
