Froland, Betty Ann (4 SEP 1955)

The Augustana Lutheran Church of St. James, Hanska, Minn., was the scene of a pretty wedding on Sunday, Sept. 4^th, 1955, at 3 o’clock when Miss betty Ann Froland, Chicago, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Froland of Hanska, became the bride of Gilbert Engholm of Chicago and Ft. Eustis, Va., son of Mr. and Mrs. Nils Engholm of Chicago.

The Rev. Glenn V. Olmon performed the ceremony before an altar banked with white chrysanthemums and white gladioli and candle lighting.  The color scheme of blue and white was carried out on the pews.

The bride’s parents were also married in the church.

Aurora Kading presided at the organ, and accompanied by Carol Anding of Hudson, Wis., when she sang, "Crown with Thy Benediction," before the ceremony, and Lee Hagglund of St. Peter sang "The Lord’s Prayer," during the ceremony.

Miss Marjorie Froland, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Gladys Starnes, Landsong, Ill., sister of the groom, Barbara and Lois Jungas, Mountain Lake, cousins.

Attending the groom were Robert Starnes of Lansing, Ill., a brother-in-law, as best man.  Jay Johnson, St. James, James Bouvin and Robert Bouvin of River Falls, Wis., all cousins, were ushers.

Candle lighters were Jack Jungas of Mountain Lake and Robert Hagglund of Audubon, Ia.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown fashioned with a figure molding bodice of nylon tulle with a sweetheart neckline of crushed tulle and embroidered alenon lace studded with iridescent

sequins.  Tiny shirred sleeves complemented by shirred tulle gauntlets.  Her bouffant floor length skirt of foamy nylon tulle was accented by lace medallions studded with iridescent sequins.  She carried a shower bouquet of of white orchids and stephanotis.

Her attendants wore gowns of deep blue silk shantung with tiny pleated arm drapes and full gored floor length skirts.  They carried crescent shaped bouquets of lacy white chrysanthemums.

A reception for eighty guests was held in the church parlors by the bride’s parents following the ceremony.

The bride attended Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) High School, Radio and Technical School in Minneapolis and the Eau Claire Teacher’s College.  She was employed as a teletypist at Reynolds & Company Brokers in Chicago.

The groom attended Chicago Tech. College and received his Master’s Degree at the Illinois Institute of Technology.  At present he is stationed at Ft. Eustis, Va., in the army, where they will be at home following a wedding trip to northern Minnesota.

For travelling the bride wore a light blue wool and orlon two piece dress made with pleated skirt and navy accessories.
