Lila A. O’Brien, 94, Spencer, entered eternal life on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at home surrounded by her family and under the tender care of Ministry Home Hospice. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, March 3, at Christ The King Catholic Church, Spencer. The Rev. Victor Feltes officiated. Burial was in the West Spencer Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Rueth, Todd Lindner, Shawn O’Brien, Wayne O’Brien Jr., Michael O’Brien and Chad O’Brien.

Lila Boyer was born on Feb. 11, 1916, in Unity to William and Fannie (nee Josephson) Boyer. She graduated from Riplinger High School. She married James L. O. O’Brien on Jan. 10, 1934, in Colby. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1975. She was employed at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in the housekeeping department.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the time she could spend with her family, especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and tending her house plants. She also kept busy crocheting afghans and giving them away as gifts. She especially enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends and working crossword puzzles. She eagerly awaited her next trip to the casino. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church and the PCCW.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Kathleen (Herb) Rueth, Perma, Idaho, James (Patricia) O’Brien, Marshfield, Richard (Jewell) O’Brien, Spencer, Wayne (Nancy) O’Brien, Marshfield, Patricia (William) Lindner, Greenwood, Ron (Kay) O’Brien, Marshfield, and Becky (John Craig) O’Brien, Madison; 27 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold (Mary Ann) Boyer, Unity.

Preceding her in death were a grandson, Timothy O’Brien; two great grandchildren, Craig Rueth and Amanda Schellinger; two brothers, Lester O’Brien and Charles O’Brien; and one sister, Edith.

Her family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Hospice staff, for tender loving care and attention their mother received.
