Hoffarth, Jerome (06 SEPT 1940-25 FEB 2010-03-20

 

Jerome J. Hoffarth, 69, Owen, died on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 2, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Jacob Hansen, Caryn Hoffarth, Evan Hoffarth, Zachary Hoffarth, Clayton Becker, Gregory Becker and Travis Becker.

 

Jerome Joseph Hoffarth was born on Sept. 6, 1940, in Mount Carmel, N. D. He was raised on his family farm and received his elementary education in the Mount Carmel area. He graduated from St. Alphonsus High School, Langdon, N. D. in 1959. After completing his education, he went to work at a welding shop in Walhalla, N. D. He married Martha Longtin on Jan. 23, 1964, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, N. D. In 1965, they moved to Milwaukee, where he worked for George Meyer’s Manufacturing for 11 years. Then in 1976, they bought a farm in the town of Longwood, and farmed until 1994. They sold their farm and moved to the town of Green Grove, where he semi-retired. He helped his neighbors and friends by welding and helping them on their farms.

 

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren, collecting toy tractors, visiting with friends, country music, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Martha, Owen; his children, Tammy (Doug) Hansen, Willard Bryan (Peggy) Hoffarth, Granton, Carrie (C. J.) Becker, Greenwood, and Pam Hoffarth, Wausau; nine grandchildren; his mother, Rosina Hoffarth, Langdon, N. D.; nine siblings, Rosemary (Howard) Groven, Portland, N. D., Lloyd (Joan) Hoffarth, Lakota, N. D., Gary (Bonnie) Hoffarth, Hemet, Calif., Sandy (Jack) Croce, Laguna Woods Village, Calif., Mary Ellen Stephens, Elizabethtown, Pa., Francis (Marian) Hoffarth, Langdon, N. D., Glen (Elaine) Hoffarth, Grand Forks, N. D., Ronnie (Kristin) Hoffarth, Langdon, N. D., Patty (Bruce) Burckhard, Devils Lake, N. D., one sister-in-law, Shirley Hoffarth, Grand Forks, N. D. ; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Preceding him in death were his father; one brother, Tom; and one sister, Luella Hoffarth.
