Hoffman, Raymond (16 APRIL 1921-21 MARCH 2010)

 

Raymond F. Hoffman, 88, Greenwood, died on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, on Friday, March 26, from 5-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and on Saturday, March 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, from 10 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

 

Raymond Frank Hoffman was born on April 16, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., to Frank and Josephine (nee Slupski) Hoffman. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Lane Tech High School. He married Jennie Smolinski on April 23, 1950, in Chicago. He worked in the Greenwood/Willard area as an electrician for Frank Peroshek and Frank Petkosek. He then started his own electrical business, Hoffman’s Electric, which he operated until retiring in 1987. he and his wife also owned and operated Hoffman’s Resort, at Mead Lake, from 1953 until 1972. After his retirement, he ran the concession stand at Bruce Mound, for three years, for Clark County.

 

He had many interests, including spending time with his family and friends, playing the accordion, especially polkas, and he loved to dance. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and was a former president of the Mead Lake Club.

 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jennie, Greenwood; two daughters, Janet (Larry) Petersen, Marshfield, and Sue (Bob) Karo, Willard; five grandchildren, Hollie (Tony) Bellovary, Corey (Olivia) Petersen, Rebecca (Greg) Karo, Angela (Joe) Karo, and Allison Karo; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda Bellovary, Sawyer Bellovary, and Cole Petersen.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Donald Hoffman and Robert Hoffman.
