Pvt. Norman Brocker, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Gus Brocker, now of Tomahawk, formerly of Abbotsford, is a Marine
and participated in the battle of Iwo Jima. He writes from a
station hospital in the Mariana: "I was knocked out by a concussion
on the seventh day of battle when a Jap mortar shell wanted to
share my foxhole." Pfc. Brocker is a veteran of the Marshals and
Saipan.
Note: Two ranks are listed. Pvt. (private) and Pfc. (private first class) are not the same pay scale
rank.
