Raymond F. Gardner, 63, Greenwood, died on Thursday, March 25, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated.
Raymond Floyd Gardner was born on April 14, 1946, in Loyal, to Harold and Jean (nee Cook) Gardner. He was raised in Loyal and attended Loyal High School through his junior year. In 1963, his family moved to Greenwood and he graduated from Greenwood High School in 1964. After graduating, he worked as a carpenter in the Clark County area. He married Tersia Kopacz on Dec. 1, 1973, at Hedwig’s Chapel, Thorp. They lived in Thorp until the fall of 1974 and then moved to Greenwood, and lived in houses he built. He held various jobs over the years including, construction, dairy farming, truck driving and as a mechanic.
He had many interests, but especially loved playing with his grandchildren, hunting, reading, mud bogging, his dog, Ripper, his many cats, playing games and watching the Packers. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Tersia, Greenwood; his son, Matheau (Jessica) Gardner, Thorp; his daughter, Tessia (Pat) Melvin, Deephaven, Minn.; his grandchildren, Raedyn and Baeret Gardner, and Teegan Melvin; his mother, Jean Gardner, Withee; six siblings, Nancy (Fred) Barth, Greenwood, Bob (Dee) Gardner, Greenwood, John (Laura) Gardner, Owen. Judy Bucheger, Woodstock, Ill., Betty (Dave) Pakiz, Crystal Lake, Ill., and Gerry (Nancy) Gardner, Austin, Texas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Haarold; his fathet-in-law and mother-in-law, Matt and Helen Kopacz, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Bucheger.
