Myrtice E. Tieman, 80, Marshfield,
formerly of Owen, died on Saturday, October 24, 1998 at St.
Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 29, 1998, 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Owen. Visitation was on Wednesday, October 28, 1998, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.

Tieman, Myrtice (30 DEC 1917 – 24 OCT 1998)
OWEN – Myrtice Tieman, 80, Marshfield, formerly of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died
October 24, 1998 at St. Joseph Hospital Hospice care Unit in Marshfield.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today at the United Church of Christ in Owen,
with Pastor Jed Watson officiating, assisted by T. Michael Harty. Music was
provided by Donnie Ryba, Sheila Koplitz, and Ramona and Krista Weiler.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.
Myrtice was born December 30, 1917 in the town of Hixon (Clark Co.), rural
Withee, the daughter of Henry Lee and Lillian Mae (nee Chase) Koplitz.
On June 17, 1943 Myrtice and Glen Tieman were united in marriage. He preceded
her in death on December 23, 1995.
Mrs. Tieman graduated from Owen High School and the University of Wisconsin, Eau
Claire, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
She began her teaching career in a one-room rural school at the age of 18. For
38 years she taught in the Owen-Withee Public Schools, a teaching career that
spanned 42 years. Upon retirement she received recognition for her service to
education from the governor of the state of Wisconsin.
Professionally she was actively involved in the Wisconsin Education Association,
service in various capacities, including president of the Owen-Withee Education
Association.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ for more
than 60 years. She was a member of the Women's Society, and also served on
various committees, boards and offices of the church.
As Past Worth Matron of the Owen Order of Eastern Star, she continue to
participate in the work. As a lifelong resident of the Owen-Withee community,
her civic contributions have been appreciated.
She is survived by a brother, Eugene (Peggy) Koplitz of Greeley, Colorado; her
sister-in-law, Edna Koplitz of Abbotsford; and by nieces and nephews.
