Owen, Chauncey (Motorcycle accident - 10
Oct 1912)
Last Thursday Chauncey Owen met with a serious motorcycle accident at the Black River Falls fair. He and Frank Lockbram and John Southard went to the fair to ride a motorcycle race and had just started one of the heats. The three riders came down past the judges stand at about 25 miles an hour, with Owen slightly in the lead. A dog ran across the track and Chauncey struck it, the impact throwing him from his machine directly in the path of Lockbram. As a result Lockbram collided with Owen and he was also thrown from his machine. Owen suffered a broken collarbone and very severe bruising, but Lockbram was not hurt. Owen received prompt medical attendance and came home the next day, but will be laid up for a few weeks for repairs.
