Bachmann, Mr. (Seriously hurt in fire -
13 Dec 1912)
Last Friday Dr. Bachmann’s father was caught in a fire in Pittsburgh and narrowly escaped with his life. Mr. Bachmann lived at a private hotel which caught fire. He was asleep at the time and was aroused only after the fire had gained considerable headway. He is a man quite advanced in years, and had difficulty in getting to the fire escape, but finally succeeded, not however until he had been quite severely burned and had breathed a large quantity of smoke into his lungs. As a result of his injuries it was not thought he would recover, but Tuesday Dr. Bachmann received a telegram saying that his father was slightly improved. A later message stated that he has suffered a relapse and there was no hope of his recovery. Dr. and Mrs. Bachmann leave today for Pittsburg.
