Wayne Drescher, 68, of Neillsville died
Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit of St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Wayne Donald Drescher was born Dec. 5,
1941, in Neillsville, the son of Donald and Irene (Bartz)
Drescher. He attended grade school in the Town of York and
graduated from Loyal High School. He went on to earn a
Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Wayne then worked at Bio-Life until its
closing. He purchased Neillsville Oil and operated that
business until ill health forced him to retire. Currently, he
was working as a part-time realtor with Sunrise Realty in
Neillsville.
Wayne was a member of the Immanuel
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe and had served as president of
the congregation. He was a past-president of Thrivent
Financial and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, reading and the
Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; two
step-daughters, Valerie (Rev. Tom) Schultz of Palatine, IL, and
Pamela (Timothy) Yaeger of Appleton; four step-grandchildren,
Vanessa (Jeffrey) Eastin, Abigail Schultz, Jordan Schultz and Eden
Schultz; a sister, Sandra (Dennis) Burkart of Eau Claire; and
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Funeral services for Wayne were held at
11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Immanuel Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Globe. Pastor John Warmuth
officiated. Music was provided by Karen Hoppa, organist, and
pat Dorwaldt, soloist. Interment was made in the Neillsville
City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Friday, at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to service time
Saturday at the church.
Casketbearers were: David Burkart, David
Drescher, Carl Noah, Gregg Thoma, John Dorwaldt and Jim
Lord.
