Garrison, L.O. (abt. 1853 - 12 Jan 1913)
L.O. Garrison, one of the pioneers of the north end of the county and a man who has always been prominent in county affairs, died early last Sunday morning at his home at Thorp. He had retired Saturday evening in apparent good health, but shortly before his wife called him Sunday morning he passed quietly away. When Mrs. Garrison went to awaken her husband she found him sleeping peacefully the sleep that knows no awakening.
Mr. Garrison was the first settler in the village of Thorp, having located were the village now stands at the time of the building of the old Wisconsin Central railroad from Abbotsford to Chippewa Falls in 1880. For many years he was engaged with his brother in the mercantile business and later in the banking business. He had always been a conservative businessman, but enterprising to a great degree and to his personal efforts are due much of the rapid settlement and development of Northern Clark County. He was about 60 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Garrison was a splendid specimen of true manhood and this paper hopes to be able to give a more complete account of his life later.
