Ann Sackett, 93, of Neillsville, formerly
of Fairchild, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the Memorial Health
and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Ann Amy Pozega was born Jan. 18, 1916, at
home in Willard, the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Samson)
Pozega. She attended Blackberry Grade School in
Willard. After completing her schooling, she worked on the
family farm. She was united in marriage May 15, 1937, to
Charles L. Sackett. They lived in Willard for a while and
then eventually moved to Fairchild, where they farmed and raised
their family. They retired in the ‘70s and sold the farm,
keeping 10 acres to live on. They lived there until 2005 when they
moved to the Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
In her spare time, Ann loved tending to
her vegetable garden and canning. She also loved reading,
picking berries, and she loved being outdoors among nature.
She loved taking walks with her dog and being among the other
animals of the wild.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Lloyd) Wilkenson of Salem and Evelyn (Michael) Chandler of Alma
Center; four grandchildren, Jane, Connie, Debra and Barbra; nine
great-grandchildren, Janine, Janelle, Jessica, Ryan, Robert,
Rachel, Nathan, Jordan and Jasmin; and one sister, Christine Gertz
of Anoka , MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Charles, her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services for Ann will be held at
2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the Gesche Funeral Home in
Neillsville. Pastor Meg Erickson of the United Methodist
Church in Merrillan will conduct the service. Interment will
be in the Fairchild Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.
Casketbearers are Michael Chandler, Lloyd
Wilkinson, Gary Pozega, Larry Pozega, Joe Petkovsek and Dan
Bakken.
