Wayne D. Drescher, 68, of Neillsville, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 10, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran, Globe. The Rev. John Warmuth officiated. Music was provided by Karen Hoppa, organist, and Pat Dorwaldt, soloist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Casket bearers were David Burkart, David Drescher, Carl Noah, Gregg Thoma, John Dorwaldi and Jim Lord.
Wayne Donald Drescher was born on Dec. 5, 1941, in Neillsville, to Donald and Irene (nee Bartz) Drescher. He attended grade school in the town of York and graduated from Loyal High School. He went on to earn a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He then worked at Bio-Life until its closing. He purchased Neillsville Oil and operated that business until ill health forced him to retire. Cyrrently, he was working as a part time realtor with Sunrise Reality, Neillsville. He was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Globe, and had served as president of the congregation. He was a past-president of Thrivent Financial, and in his spare time, enjoyed hunting, reading and the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; two stepdaughters, Valerie (Rev. Tom) Schultz, Palentine, Ill., and Pamela Yaeger, Appleton; four step-grandchildren, Vanessa (Jeffrey) Eastin, Abigail Schultz, Jordon Schultz, and Eden Schultz; a sister, Sandra (Dennis) Burkart, Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.
