Fern Eleanor West was born July 22, 1913, the daughter of George and Hazel (Slocomb) West in the Town of Grant in Clark County.  She attended the Kurth School and graduated from Neillsville High School.  Fern was united in marriage July 22, 1931, to George Kuehn. They farmed together and raised their family in the Town of Grant.  In 1980 they sold their farm and moved to Oak Street in Neillsville.  Fern loved to garden, read and was a great cook.  She was a strong woman who loved to take care of others, especially Joanie, and was always there for her family.  Fern was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church Ladies, the Pleasant Ridge Homemakers and was a volunteer at the Neillsville Senior Center for many years.  George died in June of 1998, having been married to Fern for 67 years.

Fern will be dearly missed by her daughters, Joyce (Darrel) Hohenstein of Granton, Nancy (Art) Regner of Marshfield and Joan Kuehn of Thorp; a son, George Jr. (Amada) Kuehn of Universal City, TX; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by three sisters, Beulah Reimer of Michigan, Daisy Harrill of California and her "baby sister" Rica Kernz of Marshfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a grandson, Gary Hohenstein; and a great-granddaughter, Zoie; three brothers, Jim, Bud and Roy; and a sister, Rose.
