Kuehn, Fern Eleanor (22 July 1913 - 21
April 2010)
Fern E. Kuehn, 96, of Neillsville died
Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the Neillsville Care and
Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Fern Eleanor West was born July 22, 1913,
the daughter of George and Hazel (Slocomb) West in the Town of
Grant in Clark County. She attended the Kurth School and
graduated from Neillsville High School. Fern was united in
marriage July 22, 1931, to George Kuehn. They farmed together and
raised their family in the Town of Grant. In 1980 they sold
their farm and moved to Oak Street in Neillsville. Fern loved
to garden, read and was a great cook. She was a strong woman
who loved to take care of others, especially Joanie, and was always
there for her family. Fern was a member of the United
Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church Ladies, the Pleasant
Ridge Homemakers and was a volunteer at the Neillsville Senior
Center for many years. George died in June of 1998, having
been married to Fern for 67 years.
Fern will be dearly missed by her
daughters, Joyce (Darrel) Hohenstein of Granton, Nancy (Art) Regner
of Marshfield and Joan Kuehn of Thorp; a son, George Jr. (Amada)
Kuehn of Universal City, TX; 12 grandchildren; 31
great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She is
further survived by three sisters, Beulah Reimer of Michigan, Daisy
Harrill of California and her "baby sister" Rica Kernz of
Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband, George; a grandson, Gary Hohenstein; and a
great-granddaughter, Zoie; three brothers, Jim, Bud and Roy; and a
sister, Rose.
Funeral services for Fern were held at 11
a.m. Saturday, April 24, at the United Methodist Church in
Neillsville. Pastor Dong Su Lee officiated. Charlotte
Drescher, organist, provided music. Visitation was held from 5 p.m.
to 7 p.m. Friday, April 23, at the Gesche Funeral Home in
Neillsville and Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the
church. Interment was in the Town of Grant
Cemetery.
Serving as Casketbearers for Fern were
Gene Hohenstein, Dale Hohenstein, David Hohenstein, Tom Hubing,
Walter Karl and Dan Pekol.
