Thieme, La Verna E. #2 (7 JUL 1956)
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Curtiss, was the scene Saturday afternoon, July 7, 1956, at 2:00 o’clock of the marriage of Miss La verna E. Thieme, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Thieme, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and Wilfred Art Marcott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Marcott, Dorchester. The Rev. Martin H. Krause heard the vows.
The bride’s sister, Miss Annette Thieme, was her maid of honor. She wore a lace jacket with a Peter Pan collar over the strapless lace bodice of her yellow floor length dress. Clusters of ruffles throughout, coming to points, highlighted the nylon net over taffeta skirts. Pearl accented her crystal fringe tiara.
Others in the bridal party were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mengel, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, Owen, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marcott, the groom’s brother and sister-in-law, from Abbotsford. Ushers were Dale Thompson, his cousin from Curtiss, and Arnold Thieme, the bride’s brother, Owen.
Susan Marcott, the groom’s sister, Dorchester, was flower girl.
All of the bridal aides wore identically styled dresses. Complementing their outfits were white carnations and yellow roses tied and yellow lace and streamers.
A net and satin cord inset completed the scooped neckline of the bride’s gown, which had a Chantilly lace fitted bodice. The sleeves tapered to points over the wrists, and tiny covered buttons descended down the back. Appliqués of lace flowers flowed into the nylon tulle floor length skirt. Her silk illusion fingertip veiling was attached to a crown of pleated nylon tulle and rhinestones.
Mrs. Jack McCorrison, Owen, was the organist at the church, sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "The Wedding Prayer."
Supper was served at the home of the bride’s parents. Later the couple left for the East Coast and Florida. They are tentatively planning to live in Florida.
The bride attended Owen High School and the groom, who just completed three years in the army, was in the 1953 Abbotsford High School graduating class.
