A painful and regrettable misfortune occurred at noon yesterday when Douglas Liepke, four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Liepke, route 2, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), suffered an injury that necessitated removing his right thumb.
Dougie was riding with his father perched on the tool box of a farm tractor when a piece of baling wire which Dougie had looped around his thumb caught on something and pulled his hand under a tractor light. The youngster was rushed immediately to the office of Dr. J. W. Jonson, Withee, for treatment, and later admitted to Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley for surgery.
Last night Dougie was in exceptionally good spirits when visited by his parents. It’s expected that he will be dismissed from the hospital this afternoon.
