Penning, Gerald Alan (February 6, 1940 -
May 8, 2010)
Gerald Alan Penning, 70, Abbotsford, died at the Colonial Health Care Center in Colby, with his family at his side on May 8, 2010 after a long illness.
Gerald Alan Penning was born February 6, 1940 in Eau Claire, to
George and Sylvia (Christopherson) Penning.
He attended public schools in Chippewa
Falls. After graduation he proudly served in the United States
Marine Corp from 1958 - 1962.
He married Karen Faith on June 6, 1964 in Chippewa Falls. He went on to further his education and graduated with a Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education from U.W. Eau Claire.
Gerald is lovingly survived by his wife, Karen, of Abbotsford; and
his sons, Scott (Dawn) Penning of Oshkosh, and Garth (Sherry)
Penning of Mesa, Ariz. He was the proud grandfather of Emily,
Madison, and Kyle Penning and step-grandfather of Colleen,
Christine, and Trent Stanton. Gerald is also survived by two
brothers, Richard (Marge) Penning of Janesville, and Christopher
Penning of Jefferson City, Mo.
We will miss you…. "Soar on the wings of eagles!"
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Colby
Colonial Heath Care Center, employees and Dr. Writz for their care
and friendship during his stay.
There will be a private internment at the Greenwood Cemetery in
Platteville.
The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the
family with funeral arrangements.
