Julius Guse died Friday at his home south of this city after an illness of two years duration.  Cancer of the stomach was the cause of his demise.  Mr. Guse was born in Germany May 20, 1840.  He was united in marriage to Amelia Strocher forty-two years ago.  They resided there for a number of years and then came to this country, locating in Chicago.  Eighteen years ago Mr. Guse and his family came to Clark county, settling on the farm which has ever since been their home.  Deceased is survived by his wife and six children.  The children are Mary Zimmerman, who lives in Germany, Hattie Rautenberg of Buffalo, N.Y., Amanda Ihrche of Chicago, Carl, Julius, and Paul.

Deceased was a man of many sterling characteristics and was highly respected by all who knew him.  He was honest and conscientious and maintained a reputation for his straightforwardness and honorable dealing.  The funeral was held at the house Monday afternoon, Rev.
